Year 7 Scholarships for Students commencing 2025

  • Scholarship Test date – Saturday, 20 April 9:00– 11.30 am OR Tuesday, 23 April 3.40 – 6.00pm, 2024

Bayview College awards Scholarships and Bursaries to young people who would benefit from and contribute to, education at Bayview College and who demonstrate the potential for a commitment to the Vision and Mission of the College.

Scholarships and Bursaries are awarded annually to students entering Year 7 for up to four years, with the possibility of extension into the Senior Years. Scholarships and Bursaries will cover up to 50% of tuition fees.

Students awarded scholarships and bursaries will be bound by the same rights and responsibilities as all students at Bayview College.

Criteria for Awarding Scholarships

Bayview fosters the expectation that each student will become the best person they can be. In making its decision, the Scholarship Selection Committee considers the following criteria: as well as impressions gained at an interview, and from reference checking:

Academic Excellence

  • Evidence of academic excellence in any of the core subject areas
  • Impressions gained during the interview.

Applicants are required to sit a comprehensive academic test at Bayview. Parents/applicants are notified of the outcome by mail or phone.

Creative, Visual & Performing Arts

Evidence of potential talent in any of the following areas:

  • Art/Design
  • Drama
  • Music
  • Design & Technology

Applicants are required to sit an academic test at Bayview. Applicants are also required to demonstrate ability via the submission of a folio or a performance (in person or video) audition. Parents/applicants will be notified of the outcome by mail or phone.

Physical Education, Sport and Outdoor Education

Evidence of potential talent in any of the following areas:

  • Physical Education
  • Sport
  • Outdoor Education

Applicants are required to sit an academic test at Bayview. Applicants will be required to submit a portfolio of their sporting/recreational achievements (regional and state level representation preferred) with this application. Parents/applicants are notified of the outcome by mail or phone.

School & Community Involvement

  • Involvement in Primary School and Local Community
  • Evidence of ongoing participation in extra-curricular activities and engagement with the local and wider community

Applicants are required to sit the academic test at Bayview. Applicants are required to submit a portfolio of their achievements and evidence of involvement with this application. Parents/applicants are notified of the outcome by mail or phone.

Criteria for Awarding Bursaries

Bayview fosters the expectation that each student will become the best person he or she can be. In making its decision, the Bursary Selection Committee considers the following criteria:

  • Letter from Student providing a personal statement outlining how they believe they can contribute to and benefit from an education at Bayview (200 words).
  • Reports from current school
  • 3 referees names and phone contact details (ideally 1 from a Minister of Religion) Reference letters NOT required.
  • Confidential demonstration of need
  • Completion of Creative Writing piece
  • Impressions gained at an interview

Students applying for a Bursary are not required to complete the entire academic testing process.

Senior Scholarships

Bayview College is very proud of the success of our senior students in VCE and VCAL. We encourage academic excellence and success in all pathways. “We provide excellence in education within the context of Christian values, pastoral care, and community.”

Scholarships are open to current Year 10 students and new students currently enrolled in Year 9 or 10. Scholarship holders are welcome to re-apply for a Senior Scholarship, which covers Years 11 & 12.  A Senior Scholarship covers up to 50% of School Tuition Fees.

The Senior Years scholarships are awarded on the basis of a number of criteria including:
• Academic performance
• Outstanding work ethic and commitment to achieving personal best
• Leadership
• School and community involvement

Scholarships awarded are dependent on continued performance in the above areas. Scholarships are not designated to any particular subject area, but rather applicants are judged on overall merit.

Senior Scholarship Process

  • Are open at the beginning of Term 3 each year.
  • Students are required to submit a written application to the Principal providing details of Academic Performance, Leadership, and School and community involvement.
  • Students are required to include contact details for two referees to support their application.
  • Students will be informed in writing of the outcome of their initial application and if they have been shortlisted for an interview with the scholarship panel.
  • Selected students will be required to attend a formal interview with The Principal and/or two other school representatives.
  • Students will be notified of the outcome of their application and the terms of their scholarship by late August.
